Andrii Yarmolenko: “We really want to reach the Champions League group stage”

FC Dynamo Kyiv halfback Andrii Yarmolenko answered media questions before the Champions League qualification play-off round first leg against RB Salzburg:

- Can you compare your emotions before the upcoming game and before the Euro-2024? When were you more nervous?

- Nervousness can be different: when you’re afraid of something or when you’re looking forward to something. Of course we realize how important the upcoming game is. So there’s some nervousness, but only because of how much this match matters to players, fans and the club. We must do our best and show what we can.

- Do you feel the pressure considering that Ukraine has lost a number of positions in the coefficients table and you need to win so that we could have more teams in euro cups?

- No, we don’t talk about it, but of course we follow the situation. We haven’t played in the Champions League for a while so we really want to reach the group stage.

- Unfortunately you can’t play your home games in Ukraine, but a lot of Ukrainians in Lublin. Do you thing you’ll feel like at home tomorrow?

- Of course it’s difficult that we can’t play at home, in Kyiv. We know that many of our warriors are Dynamo fans, and first of all we play for them. As for the support in Lublin, I can say that there’re indeed many Ukrainians here, they were forced to move because of the terrorists who are killing our people – women and children. We felt their support when opposing Partizan and Rangers. I hope This support will be even greater tomorrow.
