On June 17 Ukraine national team started their Euro-2024 campaign. On Monday they faced Romania in Munich.
Ukraine had a number of attacks early in the game, but Romania created the first chance as Lunin parried the shot from distance. Tsyhankov responded with his attempt, but goalkeeper coped with that.
In the 29th minute Romania stepped in front. After mistake by Lunin they obtained the ball and Stanciu hit he upper V from outside the box.
The second half started with Ukrainians’ attacks, but Romania used their opportunities again. At first Marin hit the far corner from distance and then Dragus scored after pass from Man – 3:0.
Sudakov was the closest to pulling one back, but Nita cleared his strike. Later Yaremchuk hit the crossbar while Mudryk sent the ball over the bar.
Thus Ukraine lose their first Euro-2024 game by three goals to nil.
Four FC Dynamo Kyiv players took the field in this game. Midfielder Mykola Shaparenko was in the starting lineup. Halfbacks Volodymyr Brazhko, Andrii Yarmolenko and defender Oleksandr Tymchyk made substitute appearances in the second half.
Ukraine will play their next match on June 21 – against Slovakia.
