FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after the Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg against Fenerbahce SK:
- Are you satisfied with Dynamo performance?
- This was our first official match in eight months. It wasn’t easy. Besides, the problem was that we didn’t know our current potential. We didn’t dare to risk in this situation. The game was even, both sides could score. We realized Fenerbahce level as they did a good job on transfer market. But we still could oppose them despite that and tough situation in Ukraine.
I think 0:0 is positive outcome. We’ll aim to win in the second leg as Fenerbahce will have to risk to score.
- Should one expect any enforcement before the second leg?
- No. Who’s going to come to Ukraine now? No one. We must use players we have. We saw our potential in this game. Everything will be fine in return match.
- Why did you make the first substitution in the 77th minute?
- Because I didn’t want to risk. I know what my players are capable of. They’re really orderly. Besides, Fenerbahce have 30 performers while we have 20.
- What do you think of atmosphere at the stadium?
- It was really good, but I expected more people would come. I guess the thing is it’s just the start of qualifying campaign. Anyway, those who came created great atmosphere.
