On August 26, the Champions League group stage drawing took place. It has turned out FC Dynamo Kyiv will face Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Benfica.
The White-Blues’ president Ihor Surkis has shared his impressions of this event.
- They call those “groups of death”, but I don’t think this is the case. Dynamo are able to oppose any team, demonstrate decent football and results.
In a nutshell, Bayern are one of the leading teams of Europe, Barcelona are always top level although they’re having rebuilding stage. Anyway, they’re one of the best clubs of the continent. Benfica are very tough and ambitious opponent.
Last year we gained vital experience in the Champions League. This season we expect every game to be difficult, but Dynamo will perform with great dedication.
I hope our players realize what kind of responsibility this is and what kind of club they feature for. Enormous army of Ukrainian fans will be supporting them.
Fans will be our 12th player in battles against European top clubs.
Roman Yaremchuk against Dynamo? There’s no need in extra motivation for Roman or our club. Dynamo gave him a path to big football.
I hope Roman will score a lot for Ukraine and Benfica, but not against Dynamo.
