- First of all I’d like to say Olexandr worked in quite extreme conditions. When he became the coach, we decided that, considering current situation in our country, we must rely on our youngsters. We haven’t won trophies, but Olexandr has done what we agreed on.
Now we have Burda, Mykolenko, Shepelev, Shaparenko. Tsyhankov is the team captain. We’ve signed Verbic and Kedziora, who’ve become first team regulars. There were mistakes. My mistakes, coaches’, scouts’. We’ve got Brazilians, who are good players, but for some reasons they haven’t adapted to our style. When some performers got injured, we weren’t ready to replace them. Who could imagine we would lose Sol at once? Besedin also had health problems.
Why did we take such a long break before signing the new contract? Because first of all we had to tell each other what we want to see next season. We made a pause to think it all over.
I’m optimistic about the future, because I hope players, who can really enforce the team, will recover. Besides, coaches will review the training plan.
Olexandr agrees that we have definite goals for the next season – to reach the Champions League group stage, to fight for domestic league trophy and national cup. I hope players Khatskevych believed in will demonstrate their gratitude on the field.
Maybe some young players need to feature on loan for a while to get mature. Tymchyk comes back as first team performer although he’ll have to compete for starting spot as we have Kedziora. We’ve signed new supporting midfielder. Besides we follow some players head coach wants to see in the team. I’m ready to do everything I can.
I want to ask for support of journalists, who pretend that they are Dynamo admirers, but still criticize the team all the time. That’s a great pressure for young coaches and players. Olexandr Khatskevych really cares about the team. I believe we’ll be fine.
- What are the conditions of new agreement?
- That’s two-year contract. Of course Khatskevych must fulfill our goals, but it’s wrong to say that if we don’t reach the Champions League group stage coach will definitely be fired. Don’t press on me. Press on football federation. When there’s intrigue in battle for league title, our players start being sent off.
We can fight for domestic title. And we will. I hope next season there will be VAR in the UPL. I demand equal footing for all teams. If our player gets two-match suspension for some foul, then Shakhtar or Zoria player must get two-match suspension for similar foul too.
Times change. Football federation must realize that. Young president of the country wants to see order in Ukraine. Everything must be fair for everyone. I won’t keep silent this season.
