Looking back I can say no one expected anything special from us as we had a lot of former U-21 team players.
I’ll never forget how I tried to cope with Olexandr Zavarov – USSR Ukrainian halfback. It was a nightmare to oppose him! He never stopped moving.
That USSR team was mostly formed of great FC Dynamo Kyiv players. Ihor Belanov, Olexiy Mykhailychenko and Hennadiy Lytovchenko featured for them. Valeriy Lobanovskyi was the coach.
