FC Dynamo Kyiv Uruguayan halfback Carlos de Pena has commented upon prolongation of his contract with the White-Blues
- Carlos, what do you feel now that you’ve prolonged your contract with Dynamo? How long did it take you to make a decision?
- Of course negotiations always take some time, but I think I’ve made a right decision. I hope we’ll preserve all the titles we won. It was vital for me to feel Mister’s support. He made it clear Dynamo need me. This is one of the major reasons that made me stay in Kyiv. Besides, playing for Dynamo I can feature in the Champions League. That’s why I’m glad I’ve prolonged the contract.
- What are your personal goals in Dynamo?
- My goal is to win in every competition. Unfortunately we’ve lost the Ukrainian Super Cup, but we still can win the league and national Cup. We’ll do our best. Our prior aims are to win the UPL and to perform decently in the Champions League.
- Do you expect this season to be interesting?
- These days only Dynamo and Shakhtar fight for Ukrainian league title. These are two leading teams of the country. I expect our battle to be interesting. We must keep winning.
As for the Champions League, we’ve got very tough group, but Dynamo are good team able to oppose any club.
- How is your family doing in Kyiv?
- Of course it wasn’t easy to adapt to the new country at first, but gradually your meet people and get accustomed. We’ve hired a nanny, who helps us with the kid. My family is happy here.
- Did you discuss prolongation of the contract with your wife? Did she support you?
- We make all important decisions together. Family is the most important aspect of my life. That’s why I seek my wife’s advice. She’s supported me. Eli has already got used to life in Kyiv. We have everything we need to bring our son up here.
- Will prolongation of the contract boost your motivation?
- I’m always motivated to the maximum. I’ve been always acting as a professional here. I do my best at every training session and in every match. Every player has ups and downs, but I’m always totally motivated. I’ll keep doing the best I can to benefit Dynamo.
