On September 29, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the Champions League group stage second game. Mircea Lucescu’s men faced FC Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Considering that in the previous match the White-Blues demonstrated decent football against SL Benfica (0:0), fans were looking forward to the game with interest and optimism. And actually they were right as the match was dynamic, with lots of scoring chances.
Dynamo gave the upper hand to the home side right away, but still visitors created the first opportunity of the match. Tsyhankov sent the ball wide from inside the box after worthy attack. Bayern responded even more dangerously. Bushchan parried the ball after header from Lewandowski. Still, after cross from the corner flag, Sydorchuk handled the ball and referee awarded penalty. Lewandowski converted from the spot.
After that Süle and Sane attempted dangerously. In a few minutes, Lewandowski increased the lead after accurate assist by Müller. 10 minutes before the half-time Sane hit the post!
De Pena had a great chance to pull one back, but Neuer cleared his strike. Right after that Shaparenko attempted from distance, but Neuer was there for his team again.
Second half started with the shot by Shepelev, who was flagged offside anyway. Home side responded with the strike from Süle – Bushchan saved. Generally the situation didn’t change after the break. Bayern applied pressure while Dynamo defended and tried to counterattack. Sane, Lewandowski and Gnabry had more chances, but fortunately Kyivans coped with those. Still they couldn’t do anything when Gnabry rushed towards the penalty area and hit the target powerfully.
Six minutes later, Sane got another goal to his name. He failed to perform a cross from the left side as he intended, but the ball landed in the far corner.
Later Choupo-Moting headed the ball in after cross from the right side and made it 5:0.
