On November 23, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the Champions League group stage matchday 5 game. Mircea Lucescu’s men hosted FC Bayern Munich. The White-Blues had one point before this match and were fourth in the group E table.
The game was intense and dynamic, with lots of scoring opportunities. Fans witnessed three goals – two from Bayern in the first half and one from Dynamo after the break.
Both sides started actively and exchanged chances early in the game. Shkurin didn’t reach the ball a bit after low cross by Mykolenko. Visitors took the lead in the 13th minute. Lewandowski performed a fabulous scissor-kick and hit the corner.
Later Bushchan cleared dangerous cross to Lewandowski from the right side. Tsyhankov had a good opportunity to equalize. Goretzka didn’t let Viktor shoot properly, but still the ball rolled further, Neuer missed it and it hit the post!
Generally Dynamo had some decent counterattacks, but couldn’t score in the first half. Buialskyi fell inside Bayern box, but referee didn’t award penalty. Meanwhile visitors used their chance. After cross from the wing, Müller let the ball reach Coman and Kingsley made it 0:2.
Dynamo started the second half more aggressively. Shaparenko had a chance when Neuer was already on the ground, but Mykola decided to pass to Harmash and goalkeeper cleared the ball.
Anyway, eventually Dynamo succeeded. Mykolenko found Tsyhankov, Viktor obtained the ball, passed to Harmash and Denys pulled one back. Furthermore, Kyivans could equalize right away! Sydorchuk attempted from outside the box, Neuer parried, Buialskyi was the first to reach the ball and crossed into the center, but neither Harmash nor Tsyhankov managed to score.
After they hit the target, Dynamo got even more enthusiastic. Tsyhankov missed just a bit, Karavayev didn’t reach the ball after pass from Shaparenko, Vitinho tied with a header. Goretzka didn’t let Tsyhankov shoot in one-on-one situation at his last gasp. Later Tsyhankov hit the post! Unfortunately, despite all Dynamo efforts, the score didn’t change anymore.
