FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification play-off round first leg against Besiktas JK (2:3).
- Some will say I cling to refereeing. But due to such mistakes we’re champions in disallowed goals. They drew the line, then rewound a minute back to find an offside that wasn’t there. As for the penalty, the ball trajectory changed at close range and hit Popov’s hand pressed against the body. Referee made a decision in favor of our opponent too.
Generally, it was a good game by us, beside the mistakes that keep happening unfortunately. That’s what upsets me the most. Good game for both sides, but we dominated and had chances. Such episodes as that disallowed goal just knock you down and it’s hard to come back.
- What do you expect of the second leg?
- We still have a chance. Today we did a good job against the team that is better technically and probably physically. We demonstrated discipline, dedication and unity. We’ll try to do the same in Istanbul. There’re positive aspects, but we need to get rid of the mistakes that result in conceded goals.
- Did you feel fans’ support?
- You can’t expect fans to support another team like their own. But of course we felt their support. I wish we could gladden them with a positive outcome. Still there’s a second leg. I hope we succeed.
