Summarizing the Champions League group stage away game against FC Bayern Munich, Mircea Lucescu mentioned that conceded goals were the outcome of mistakes and lack of confidence.
- Bayern have done very good job. Munich side took the lead due to the penalty, but my players say there was a foul against Sydorchuk in that episode. I need to have a look at it.
Basically, Bayern didn’t have scoring chances before the penalty. They dominated, but that want too dangerous. After the penalty, my players got even more nervous and started losing possession too often.
Four out of five goals were results of mistakes we made when switching from defense to attack. It’s all about lack of confidence.
We had 4-5 scoring chances and some good counterattacks, but failed to use those. We lacked the final pass.
I hope this will be a good lesson for our players. I mean the way Bayern moved, attacked, applied pressure and acted on the field in general. They’re true professionals. I hope it will be a lesson for all of us.
