On Sunday, November 30, Dynamo Kyiv's youth team hosted Poltava U19 at one of the club’s training pitches as part of Round 14 of the National League U19. This was the first meeting between the two teams at this level.
For the first time in a long while Dynamo played without Ihor Kostyuk on the bench as he was recently appointed acting head coach of the first team. Accordingly the team in today’s match was led by Pavlo Cherednichenko. The Kyiv side was also in high spirits following their UEFA Youth League victory over Hibernian (1:0).
“White-and-blues” wasted no time in securing a winning result, opening the scoring in the 5th minute. Dekhtiar struck powerfully from distance, the ball hit the post and bounced into the net. Within minutes Dynamo extended their lead to a commanding margin. Andreiko finished a cross from Hubenko on the right flank and then Fedorenko added a spectacular long-range strike into the top corner.
Poltava tried to recover from the poor start but hosts maintained control of the ball, particularly in the opponent’s half. Dynamo kept up the attacking tempo set in the opening minutes. Andreiko delivered a potentially dangerous cross into the box and Ozymai shot over the bar.
Despite missing some chances the Kyiv side continued pressing and came close to adding another goal. Zadorozhnyi beat a defender in the box but his shot was blocked.
Midway through the first half Poltava registered their first significant attempt on goal but Dynamo continued controlling the game and creating positional attacks. Fedorenko had a one-on-one chance with the keeper but failed to score.
On the 40th minute Zhadan fouled Buravtsov in the penalty area with an elbow but no penalty was awarded.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Dynamo controlling play and creating increasingly dangerous chances. Poltava attempted to defend tightly forcing Dynamo players to find or create space. Andreiko and Bekerskyi drew defenders away while Dykyi moved into the center to exploit free zones.
Occasionally Poltava came close to Dynamo’s goal. Stolyazh received the ball near the box and shot from a promising position but Dykyi managed to deflect it for a corner. Dynamo responded with a shot from Bekerskyi which narrowly missed the post.
Soon after Dykyi scored Dynamo’s fourth goal, leaving the keeper no chance. With the result already secured hosts still aimed to increase the margin. Zadorozhnyi and Buravtsov came close to scoring but were unsuccessful. On the final minute Yaroslav struck the crossbar.
In the end Dynamo secured a confident 4:0 victory over Poltava. The team now has 35 points from 15 matches, sitting second in the National League U19 table. Their final championship match of the calendar year will be against Kudrivka in Round 15 on Friday, December 5.
