Matvii Ponomarenko sets new club record and leads UPL scoring charts

Dynamo Kyiv striker Matvii Ponomarenko continues to impress with his scoring exploits in the Ukrainian Premier League, breaking records and leaving his mark in the club’s history.

In the 5:0 away win over Oleksandriya Ponomarenko scored his ninth goal of the current UPL season, moving to first place in the league’s top scorers list and cementing his reputation as one of the tournament’s most dangerous forwards.

Additionally Ponomarenko has now scored in seven consecutive UPL matches for Dynamo, setting a new club record. The previous best - six consecutive games - was held by well-known players like Maksym Shatskikh, Diogo Rincón and Viktor Tsyhankov.

This goal also marked his 12th career goal for Dynamo in Ukrainian league, placing him among the top 40 all-time scorers for the club in the UPL era. With this achievement he has surpassed Maris Verpakovskis, Yevhen Pokhlebaev and Andriy Nesmachny while matching totals of Serhii Konovalov and Carlos Correa.

Ponomarenko’s consistent scoring and strong performances remain a key factor in Dynamo’s pursuit of top positions in the league providing both crucial points and demonstrating the forward’s progress toward becoming one of the club’s iconic players.
