FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after the Europa League group stage matchday 3 game against Stade Rennais FC (2:1).
- It’s very bitter to lose today. We started well, demonstrated skills and speed, but late in the game we weren’t focused enough, just as in previous games against Fenerbahce and AEK. We’ll try to change that.
Rennais are very good, dynamic and fast team. They were great at interceptions.
- What do you expect of Dynamo further Europa League performances?
- We’re constantly on the road, moving between Lviv, Krakow and other cities, so we can’t get ready properly. But we’ll do our best to succeed.
- Why did you pick Besedin as forward this time?
- Because he could oppose two strong centre backs – Rodon and Theate. I think he did a good job.
- Did you substitute Popov for a particular reason?
- Yes. Popov made mistakes that are unacceptable for a professional player. He tried to pass to Sydorchuk three times when Serhiy was marked. That’s how we got dispossessed and Rennais had dangerous counterattacks.
- What do you think of the joint application of Ukraine, Spain and Portugal for 2030 World Cup hosting?
- It’s a great decision. World Cup is a kind of even that can help Ukraine get popular all over the world. Besides they built four big stadiums in Ukraine quite recently.
