Ruslan Neshcheret: “We believe the second part of the season will be better”

FC Dynamo Kyiv goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret has summarized the first part of the season, recalled his nose injury, told about his father and shared plans for the winter vacation.

- Ruslan, is Dynamo current third place acceptable, considering how the season started?

- Of course the third place isn’t acceptable. Such clubs as Dynamo always set the most ambitious goals. There’s always a chance. We believe the second part of the season will be better.

- Dynamo started the season with two defeats in a row. How weird was that?

- It was really uncomfortable. No one could understand what was happening, but gradually things got a bit better.

- You’ve made 10 appearances this season. Are you getting more confident?

- Confidence comes when you play, so every game is beneficial.

- How often do you have individual conversations with goalkeeper coach Mykhailo Mykhailov?

- We have a theory class after every match. We watch the game and analyze it.

- What about Mircea Lucescu?

- Lucescu can say something before the training session or during it, but mostly I keep in touch with goalkeeper coach.

- You skipped a few weeks due to nose injury. Was it related to the one you had before?

- It was. I approached a player too closely and he hit my face with the ball. At first I didn’t realize what happened, but then my nose started hurting

- How do such injuries impact goalkeepers in future?

- You’re worried you can be hurt again for a week or something, but then things get fine.

- This season you play under tough circumstances. Air raid siren can sound any moment. Does it influence players?

- It’s a bit scary when air raid siren sounds. Well, you’re worried about your family first of all.

- How’s your family? Does anyone defend Ukraine?

- Mostly they’re safe. My father has been bearing arms for 20 years already. As the invasion broke off, he was in Kyiv, but then went on to defend Ukraine.

- What are your plans for the winter vacation?

- I’ll go to the mountains with my girlfriend for a while.

- Do you follow the World Cup? Whom do you support?

- I was supporting Portugal, but unfortunately they’ve tumbled out.
