Dynamo’s goalkeeper Ruslan Neshcheret shared his thoughts after the first official match of the second half of the season in which White-Blues defeated FC Rukh Lviv 1:0 at home:
– The first game after the winter break was difficult. Of course we’re pleased that we won through character. The quality of the pitch today limited our technical and perhaps tactical abilities. So it’s good that despite everything we secured the victory and move forward.
– There were not many dangerous chances in this match. Was it unrealistic to expect an entertaining game?
– It was the kind of match where everything is decided by a single goal. Games like this often end 1:0 or 2:1. Fortunately we converted one of our chances. I believe we had several opportunities but due to the condition of the pitch we couldn’t fully make the most of them.
– In such freezing conditions it must be even harder for goalkeepers. Do you have any secrets for staying sharp and warmed up?
– I always try to keep myself focused because one episode can decide the fate of the match like today. I constantly stay in motion, communicate with defenders and do everything possible to help the team.
– How do you feel after your injury? Have you fully recovered?
– Yes, I had an injury dating back to the autumn part of the season. I played through shoulder pain. Now the situation is better, although there’s still slight discomfort. The doctor said that’s normal for this type of injury. I feel good and hope things will continue to improve.
– The next match is also at home. You will prepare in Kyiv and have you already adapted to these weather conditions?
– First few days were tough, especially in terms of breathing, because moving from a warm climate to the cold isn’t easy. You feel like you’re in good physical shape but it’s hard to breathe normally. At our training base we have good conditions – a quality pitch and a gym – everything needed for proper preparation. We’ll keep working and focus on getting another win.
