FC Dynamo Kyiv skipper Serhiy Sydorchuk has shared his impression of the friendly against Indija, Kyivans’ youngsters and expectations of the third winter training camp.
- Congratulations on victorious start of the training camp, Serhiy! You’re the only player, who featured for 90 minutes today. What’s the reason?
- I guess we just lack midfielders at the moment. Some are injured or have COVID-19. Mister asked me how I feel after the first half. I said I was fine and he decided I would play the whole game.
- You used to say you need a bit more time to recondition…
- That’s true, but now I’m definitely 80-90 per cent ready. Significant number of friendlies helps me a lot. I just need to play the first official game to switch to the season rhythm.
- Dynamo start another training camp with lopsided win. Is that because you aren’t too tired yet?
- I guess so. We’ve had some rest and missed the game. Late in the training camp we get tired mentally first of all.
- Indija represent the Serbian First League which isn’t top level. What do you mostly practice when opposing such teams?
- The majority of our domestic league games will be like this. Opponents will play very defensive football. I guess that’s why we pick such teams at the moment. Besides, they applied pressure today, so we practiced switching from defense to attack under such circumstances.
- In the second half you played alongside young Olexandr Yatsyk, who scored awesome goal in recent UEFA Youth League match. Did you watch the game? What do you think of this player?
- I watched the match. About six guys gathered in our room, we were really nervous. At first things were tough, but our youngsters demonstrated their character and reached the following stage.
As for Olexandr Yatsyk, I think he’s a good player. His future is in his hands. If he does what coaches tell him to, he’ll be fine.
- Volodymyr Brazhko has been working with the team for quite a while. Is he already a regular battle unit?
- He’s also a promising guy. Dynamo have talented youngsters, but we shouldn’t overpraise them so far. I think they have football future, but no one knows what might happen. What they need at the moment is to listen carefully.
- How does this training camp differ from previous two?
- First of all we’ll play not for 45 minutes in every game, but for 90 sometimes. Besides we won’t be running a lot. We’ll play and have tactics training sessions. We lay emphasis on attacking combinations.
- Dynamo won’t feature in euro cups in spring. Doesn’t that harm your motivation?
- Our motivation is current UPL position that doesn’t satisfy us. That’s not the position we aim for. We must reach and leave Shakhtar behind.
