FC Dynamo Kyiv skipper Serhiy Sydorchuk has commented upon the 2021/2022 Champions League group stage drawing.
As you know, the White-Blues will face Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Benfica.
- There was no point counting on “favorable” drawing. This is the Champions League. Best teams of the continent feature here. So, there’s no use discussing whether we’re “lucky” or “unlucky”.
Our group is very tough, but we’ve won domestic league and covered a long way, so we shouldn’t be afraid of anyone. We have everything we need to deal with this challenge decently and demonstrate worthy football. Such games give experience and show what you need to aim for.
Bayern are always top team. They have impressive discipline and fitness. They’ve got new coach, but their development strategy is the same.
Some say Barcelona are having rough times, but their lineup is incredible. Even without Messi they’re very dangerous.
I know less about Benfica, but traditionally they have decent team in the Champions League. They finished third in Portuguese league last season, so they must be very motivated. Of course people will talk a lot about Roman Yaremchuk vs Dynamo, but that’s a kind of stuff for media.
We’re looking forward to these matches and hope our fans will support us. That’s vital in every game. It’s hard to describe what we feel when there’s full house at the stadium.
