Dynamo Kyiv defender Taras Mykhavko spoke to the PROFUTBOL Digital YouTube channel about his emotions after the 3-0 victory over Epitsentr in the sixth round of the Ukrainian Premier League.
– Your first convincing victory in a long time. From the inside, how convincing was it for you?
– Yes, it was a convincing victory in terms of the score. I think we also had the initiative in terms of the game. The first half was tense, but we scored and breathed a sigh of relief. In the second half, we scored another goal straight away, which made us play more freely. Thank God, we managed to get such a victory for the first time in a long while. We’ll move forward and go into every match motivated to win.
– During the broadcast, we could constantly see positive emotions from the coaching staff and the players, and the fans perceive that differently compared with the previous matches. Has there really been more positivity?
– Yes, especially after such a convincing victory. We can enjoy it today, but we have to start preparing for the upcoming matches from the next day because our recent results haven’t been good. We have no right to relax; we need to prove ourselves and win every game. If we manage to win the gold medals at the end of the championship, then we can celebrate.
– At the moment, many people consider Shakhtar unbeatable in the title race. Do such discussions matter to you?
– Our task is to go out there and win. I think it won’t only be Shakhtar fighting for the title this season. You can see which teams are playing well and can challenge for the championship, including Polissia, Karpaty and Kharkiv. There’s no point looking too far ahead. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season.
– You play alongside the experienced Tomasz Kędziora in central defence, and he can teach you a lot. What has he taught you so far?
– I like to play attacking football, and sometimes Tomasz can give me a bit of a telling-off because I occasionally cross the line. But his return to Dynamo is a big plus. He’s a good partner who can give me advice. I see only positives in it.
– How has he settled back in at Dynamo?
– He’s an experienced player, has played in good leagues and is called up to the Poland national team. He didn’t need any adaptation; he already knew many people in the team. He immediately started helping and passing on his experience to the squad. He helps young players develop.
