On Wednesday, July 17, FC Dynamo Kyiv played their fourth friendly at the training camp in Austria, where they’re getting ready for the season.
This time the White-Blues faced the South African side Mamelodi Sundowns FC from Pretoria, multiple champions of their country.
Ukrainians won 1:0. The only goal was scored by Samba Diallo halfway the first half.
Early in the game the two sides didn’t really create a lot of opportunities. One can mention only the chance of Yarmolenko after pass from Supriaha, but all ended well for Mamelodi Sundowns keeper in that episode. Dynamo maintained possession, but mostly in their half.
Mudau joined the attack of his team, but missed with his shot a bit. Yarmolenko sent the ball wide from inside the penalty area. South African side was close to goal as their player took a free kick and hit the crossbar!
But then Kyivans used their chances. Yarmolenko spotted Voloshyn in the right side, Nazar put a low cross into the box and Diallo sent the ball in from close range – 1:0.
Mamelodi Sundowns almost equalized in a few minutes, after another set piece. Mokoena bent it around the wall, but Neshcheret coped with the shot.
South African side was more active in the second half and caused Dynamo defense some troubles, but didn’t create actual danger.
The game exploded with emotion as Lonwijk made a quick run down the wing and crossed to Supriaha, but Vladyslav failed to head it properly. Then Lonwijk attempted after cross from the corner flag, but missed. Right after that Mamelodi Sundowns had another chance. Lethlaku rushed towards the goal and aimed at the far corner, but hit the post! Then Morhun grabbed the ball after strike by Kodisang.
Late in the game Supriaha and Pikhalionok had their opportunities, but the score didn’t change anymore.
So, Dynamo win 1:0.
