In the 22nd round of the Ukrainian Premier League Dynamo Kyiv hosted Karpaty Lviv but suffered a 0:1 defeat. Visitors started strongly and took an early lead in the 6th minute when Faal finished from close range after a cross into the box. Karpaty continued to pressure early on while Dynamo struggled to find their rhythm.
As the first half progressed Dynamo gradually gained control and created several chances, particularly from set pieces, but failed to convert. Karpaty defended solidly and despite Dynamo’s attacking efforts and Yarmolenko’s activity up front visitors maintained their lead going into halftime.
In the second half Dynamo pushed harder for an equalizer and created multiple opportunities, including a big chance for Redushko that was saved. A controversial moment came in the 80th minute when Dynamo appeared to score but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review with the referee ruling that the goalkeeper had control of the ball.
In the final minutes Dynamo launched an intense attack but couldn’t break through Karpaty’s defense. Ponomarenko was sent off late in the match adding to the hosts’ frustration. Despite a late chance Dynamo couldn’t avoid defeat. Their next match will be against Metalist 1925 on April 11.
