Midfielder Valentyn Rubchynskyi has done his first interview as FC Dynamo Kyiv player.
- Frankly speaking, it was unexpected to be invited by such a club, but I didn’t hesitate much and agreed to join Dynamo gladly. Today I had my first session with the team. Teammates and coaches greeted me really warmly. I’ll work to justify their trust and become the White-Blues’ first team regular.
- Did you exercise during vacation? Will you work with the team straight away?
- I worked individually, but of course the exercise load wasn’t like the one guys had. I’ll be catching up with my teammates to be on their fitness level.
- Another former Dnipro-1 player joined Dynamo this summer – Oleksandr Pikhalionok. Did this influence your choice in favor of Dynamo? Did you consult with Oleksandr before accepting the offer?
- There wasn’t really time to consult anyone as everything happened quite fast. But actually it will be easier to get accustomed to Dynamo alongside Oleksandr.
- Are you acquainted with any other Dynamo players?
- Sure, we played for Ukraine youth team together with some of them. Besides, we faced each other on the field often.
- You’ve spent two full seasons with Dnipro-1, performed in euro cups. Did you get more experienced over this period of time?
- Of course. We fought for top spots in the UPL, played on international arena. Thus this period was beneficial for my career.
- Dynamo will start the euro cups campaign with the Champions League qualifiers. Does the chance to perform in the most prestigious club tournament boost your motivation?
- Sure, Dynamo always set most ambitious goals in every competition and the Champions League group stage is one of them. The team deserves to compete against top clubs of Europe and we’ll do our best to achieve that.
- What’s your favorite position on the field and who are your competitors for this spot in Dynamo?
- I like to play in the midfield, both for attack and defense. As for my competitors, Dynamo have really good midfielders, so I can’t pick one.
- Who do you look up to in the world football?
- I like Thiago Alcantara. Things didn’t really work out for him in Liverpool, but he’s a great player.
- Have you already picked your squad number?
- I have, it’s 15. I didn’t have any specific requests, it just was available. I know that Viktor Tsyhankov had this number and was the leader of the team. I hope I’ll also become an important player for Kyiv side.
