UPL. Veres – Dynamo. Preview

On Friday, August 9, FC Dynamo Kyiv will play their first game of the new Ukrainian Premier League season.

The White-Blues’ matchday 1 game against FC Oleksandria was postponed. Now they’re going to face FC Veres Rivne. The match will take place at the Avanhard Stadium in Rivne. Kick-off – 18:00.

VERES (RIVNE)

Season start

Veres were getting ready for the season in Ukraine. Oleh Shandruk’s men played nine pre-season friendlies – beat Zviahel (3:1), Lokomotyv Kyiv (3:1), amateur side Molodizhne (8:1), draw against Kolos (1:1), lost against Rukh (0:4), Polissia (1:4), Nyva Ternopil (2:4) and Kolos (0:3).

In the first game of the UPL season Veres hosted FC Karpaty Lviv. The match ended in a goalless draw.

Lineup changes

11 players joined Veres during the pre-season period including center back Georgi Kutsia, center back Roman Honcharenko, forward Ruslan Stepaniuk, center back Danyil Checher, goalkeeper Andrii Kozhuhar.

Those who left the team are goalkeeper Yevhen Past, center backs Vasyl Kurko, Julio Cesar and Danyil Khondak, right back Denys Balan, midfielders Andrii Kukharuk, Oleksandr Kucherenko, Yevhen Banada, winger, Stanislav Sharai, attacking midfielder Denys Yanakov, forward Mykhailo Shestakov.

DYNAMO

Season start

Dynamo were getting ready for the season in Austria where they played five friendlies – beat Brondby (4:0) and Mamelodi Sundowns (1:0), drew against Paderborn 07 (0:0) and Schalke 04 (2:2) and lost against Union Berlin (2:3).

The White-Blues have already played three Champions League qualifiers. They’ve flattened Serbian side Partizan twice (6:2, 3:0) and played in a draw against Rangers (1:1).

Lineup changes

This summer only two players who were close to the first team left Dynamo – center back Oleksandr Syrota, who joined Maccabi Haifa, and winger Benito, who was loaned out to Zoria. The rest who left the club weren’t with Dynamo last season – winger Kaheem Parris, right back Mykyta Kravchenko, attacking midfielder Mikkel Duelund, winger Gerson Rodrigues, attacking midfielder Serhii Buletsa, winger Heorhii Tsytaishvili, forward Eric Ramirez, midfielder Oleksandr Yatsyk and forward Ihor Horbach.

Meanwhile Dynamo signed halfbacks Oleksandr Pikhalionon and Valentyn Rubchynskyi, left back/winger Maksym Braharu, center back Brayan Ceballos (loan move), promising Georgian midfielder Aleksandre Peikrishvili, returned from loan move halfbacks Justin Lonwijk and Mykola Mykhailenko.
