Vladyslav Kabayev: “You feel responsibility in Dynamo, but it’s a pleasant pressure”

FC Dynamo Kyiv halfback Vladyslav Kabayev has shared his impressions of the training camp that’s coming to an end.

- The training camp is almost over. How’re you doing?

- Everyone’s looking forward to going back home. We haven’t seen our families for quite a while. We’ve done a lot of work. There’s two more friendlies and we’re going home.

- Training camp is always a chance to learn something new. Did you learn anything this time?

- You can always learn something new, even when you’re 50-60. There was a lot of tactics, modeling. Basically training camp isn’t something players like, but we know what we do it for.

- There’re different running exercises at the training camp. Are you satisfied with your results?

- I’m self-critical and a maximalist, so I always want to do better – to run, score, to assist. Today we ran against the wind, so the results were not so good. Maybe the workload affected us, or age is already making itself felt… I wanted to do a little better, but it’s okay. We still have time, there will be a day off after arriving in Kyiv, and we will stick to the plan we have.

- Which exercise did you like the most – with and without the ball?

- I guess nobody likes to work without the ball. Well, maybe Tymchyk and Diachuk do. We like to play 4vs4 or 5vs5 or a tournament for three-four teams. That’s more exciting. Basically we like football stuff.

- How do you stay in a good shape emotionally throughout a lasting training camp?

- That’s tough. You try to unwind a little, got for a walk or something. We even considered playing some golf here, but everyone’s exhausted. Some watch movies, some play PlayStation. We also watch the Champions League.

- You’re in for the final part of the season. Does Dynamo position in the UPL table cause pressure on you?

- In fact, it all depends on how a player or coach perceives it. It can put pressure on you, but it also can inspire. We’ve done a lot of work for this, and the further we go, the higher we climb, the harder it will be to hold on. This is natural. Every player feels the burden of responsibility when he puts on the jersey with Dynamo diamond, but it’s a pleasant pressure. We’ll do the best we can to succeed.

- You’ve mentioned the diamond, Dynamo emblem. In case you win the title this season, it gets the third star…

- I know. I really want to make my contribution into that.
