Dynamo goalkeeper Viacheslav Surkis, after returning from vacation and undergoing traditional medical examination, spoke about his expectations of the pre-season with the first team and his goals for the new season:
- I’ve had a good vacation, during the first week I rested with my family, then I gradually started working, training every day and preparing according to the individual program that the coaches gave us. I’m very glad that today we’re returning to training process, because I missed both work and my teammates.
- Was that individual program hard?
- No, it was usual. I know very well that one needs to work even on vacation so that it won’t be difficult at the training camp. It’s normal and familiar, nothing extraordinary. I’m approaching the start of pre-season in a good mood.
- This won’t be your first training camp with Dynamo first team. What are your expectations?
- This will be my first summer training camp in Austria. It’s great that they take me there, that coach believes in me. I’ll be doing my best to progress and improve my game every day.
- Medical examination is a usual procedure for you. Do you have any favorite doctors or those you don’t like?
- Frankly speaking, I don’t have any preferences. I’m not afraid of needles, I don’t have problems with blood test (smiling). It’s nice that doctors wish me luck and victories. I want to go through the examination as quickly as possible and go get ready for the first training session.
- What personal and team goals do you set for the next season?
- I want Dynamo to succeed in all competitions, to qualify for the Champions League main stage and to win the domestic league again. As for the youth team, I want us to win the third league title in a row. Speaking about my personal goals, I want to get better every day.
- How difficult will it be for Dynamo U19 to win the third title in a row?
- We won the second one in succession last season, so I don’t see any issues with the third one. Our team will undergo some lineup changes, but so will our opponents. This happens every year, so it’s not a big deal.
If we listen to our coaches and have team spirit, like in the previous seasons, we can succeed. We’ll also do our best to do better in the UEFA Youth League than last year.
