The winger of Dynamo Kyiv Andriy Yarmolenko, who scored a brace against Kryvbas, shared on UPL TV his impressions of the match where “White-Blues” achieved a dramatic comeback win – 6:5.
- Today’s 11-goal thriller is the most high-scoring match in the history of the Ukrainian Premier League. What are your thoughts and impressions of the game?
- Impressions are great because it’s always nice to win such matches. I think fans who watched the game or came to the stadium got a lot of enjoyment. I want to congratulate everyone on the victory and the great football.
- Tell us about emotions you felt coming onto the pitch. You had to save the game, the weather was crazy, the match intensity was also insane…
- First of all I had to help the team. But I came on – and we immediately conceded. At that moment I thought: “Damn, I didn’t help” (smiles). But it’s good that we managed to turn the game around later.
- The score is 5:5, huge pressure – and then you score with a backheel. Does that just happen?
- (smiles) There was no other option. I was waiting to lay the ball off to someone for a shot but no one was there so I decided to try it myself. I understood the pitch was wet, it was raining and the most important thing was to hit the ball properly because goalkeeper wouldn’t have clear visibility. Luckily, it worked out.
- In your last three matches against Kryvbas you’ve been scoring. Can we say this is “your” team?
- I try to come on in every game, help the team and score goals. It’s good that it works out like that.
- I can’t not to ask about the upcoming Ukrainian Cup final. You’ll be playing against a team from Chernihiv who often interact with you on social media. You’re originally from Chernihiv yourself. How important is this match for you, and what are your expectations?
- Honestly, I was really supporting them when I watched the semi-final. I’m very happy for Chernihiv and Chernihiv football. Of course, this match will be special for me because I’ve never played against my hometown teams before, especially in a Ukrainian Cup final. It will be interesting and I’m really looking forward to it.
