FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi answered media questions after the UPL game against FC Inhulets Petrove (5:2).
- If you don’t focus on the final score, the game wasn’t easy. We played 120 minutes midweek in Poltava and two days before that faced Shakhtar. That’s why I gave guys a day off upon the return from Poltava. We realized there would be a lot of challenges today while Inhulets would rely on set pieces. I don’t think we did well in this aspect. On the other hand I’m quite satisfied with our attacking efforts. Congrats on this won, everyone.
- Dynamo defense didn’t look solid today. How come?
- I can’t answer straight away, but I agree that we had certain issues, so we have things to think of.
- Own goals by Mykhavko become some kind of abnormality. Is it just bad luck?
- Leave him alone. Today I’m satisfied with his performance. Maybe he just needs to go through this challenge. You can ask me, but leave the guys alone. It’s not an issue to me at all. I’ll be fine if we score an own goal in every game, but then score five against an opponent.
- How are injured players doing?
- Pikhalionok is getting back to work gradually, but he had a bad soleus muscle injury. I know from my own experience how difficult it is to heal that, and how careful you have to be.
As for Popov, he’s still to get back to work with the team as well. I’m not sure he should go to the game against Ferencvarosi in Hamburg as he’s not ready yet. Besides he’s got some back issues and such trips are hard for him.
Yarmolenko is back. Fortunately Shaparenko has got no complications with those cuts he had. He did a good job today although there’re some aspects he should focus on. We attacked better than we defended today.
- Is it okay for you to win 5:2? Or maybe 2:0 is better?
- We get ready for each game, analyze our opponents, focus on their actions. A victory is a victory, no matter what. Of course we want a clean sheet, but team we oppose also have certain tasks they try to fulfill. Frankly speaking, I have mixed feelings about this win.
