Dynamo head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi answered questions from the media after the away cup match against Oleksandriya (1:2).
– We planned to give playing time to those who recently joined us as well as to those who haven’t played much lately. Some things worked, some didn’t - we’ll review everything in theory and prepare for the next league match which will also be against Oleksandriya.
– What’s the condition of Vladyslav Kabayev?
– He has a very painful and unpleasant cut. Fortunately it’s not deep. We hope he’ll be ready for the next game. But I know from experience that such injuries are very uncomfortable.
– Today three players made their debut for Dynamo’s first team and one of them even scored. Did you expect things to unfold this way?
– You know, I always hope that when players step onto the pitch, they’ll make an impact - score goals, provide assists and do everything to help the team win. I was more satisfied with some, less with others. Of course there were mistakes - that’s normal. It was their debut, and there’s always some nervousness. The important thing is that we achieved our goal and advanced to the next round.
– How would you evaluate Oleksandriya’s performance?
– It’s not my principle to comment on our opponents’ play. Every team has its own identity and methods. There are aspects they rely on in their game. Every coach prepares his team based on available resources. Honestly I didn’t see anything new compared to what I had studied before the match. But no two games are the same - certain details may repeat but there are never identical situations.
Once again, I’d like to congratulate our fans on the victory. Also, I want to congratulate our rescuers - today is Rescuer’s Day. We thank these brave men and women who risk their lives to save others and make us feel safer.
And, unfortunately, today is also the anniversary of Andriy Husin’s death. It has already been eleven years since he passed away. He was, and will always remain, part of the Dynamo family. We will always remember him.
