U19 National League. Dynamo – Karpaty – 5:0. Match report

In Round 22 of the U19 National League Dynamo Kyiv hosted Karpaty Lviv at their training base in Vita-Lytovska.

Matches against the Lviv side are traditionally challenging for Dynamo as confirmed by the 1:1 draw in the first round. This time heavy rain in Kyiv and the surrounding area made conditions even more difficult for both teams.

Karpaty showed their intentions early on. In the 6th minute Kuzyk tested Surkis with a long-range effort. Dynamo responded with chances from Lobko and Bekerskyi but both attempts were blocked by defenders. In the 19th minute Karpaty’s goalkeeper made a save to deny Fedorenko from close range.

However in the 26th minute Dynamo opened the scoring. Arsenii received a cross from the left flank, controlled the ball and calmly finished from the center of the penalty area to make it 1:0.

Just four minutes later he doubled the lead. A misplaced back pass by a Karpaty player was intercepted by Fedorenko who struck from the edge of the box into the corner – 2:0.

Dynamo kept pushing forward. Liusin missed from a promising position and Lobko’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Still before halftime hosts extended their advantage. In the 43rd minute Fedorenko won the ball in midfield, Liusin sent Lobko through on goal and Vitalii beat two defenders before finishing into the corner – 3:0.

At halftime Karpaty made several substitutions and started the second half more actively, though without creating serious danger for Surkis. Meanwhile Dynamo continued to threaten. Lobko narrowly missed a header, Andreiko hit the crossbar and Bekerskyi’s shot was saved. Lobko also had a one-on-one chance in the 57th minute but failed to convert.

In the 65th minute the match was temporarily suspended due to an air raid alert. After play resumed Karpaty tried to respond. Surkis made several key saves, denying Diedov and later stopping Bondar’s powerful free kick from about 22 meters.

Any remaining intrigue ended in the 77th minute. Savane received the ball near the right edge of the penalty area, cut inside onto his left foot and curled a precise shot into the far top corner – 4:0.

Dynamo added one more in stoppage time. Andreiko took on three defenders inside the box and after a deflection the ball fell kindly to him for a composed finish into the corner – 5:0.

It was a confident and commanding victory for Dynamo which temporarily puts them at the top of the standings. However they are level on points with Shakhtar, having played two more matches than their rivals.
