As part of Round 24 of the National League U19 Dynamo hosted Zorya on their home ground.
The match took place at Dynamo’s training base in Vita-Lytovska where two teams from the top five of the youth championship faced each other. The first-round meeting between sides, also held at Dynamo’s base, ended in a 0:0 draw.
In the opening quarter of the game both teams were cautious, not pushing forward too actively, and the tempo was relatively low. The first real scoring chance came in the 22nd minute when hosts produced a fine combination in the opponent’s penalty area. Vitalii Lobko delivered a sharp through pass from the center to the right flank where Arsenii Fedorenko struck from a good position but his effort lacked accuracy.
Soon after Lobko himself threatened Zorya’s goal, taking on three defenders and getting into a shooting position, but his attempt was blocked at the last moment. Visitors responded with a dangerous attack and a precise shot but Dynamo goalkeeper Viacheslav Surkis made a reliable save.
Hosts increased the tempo and began to threaten more frequently. Their best chance of the first half came in the 36th minute after a quick vertical attack: Surkis started the move, passing to Hubenko, who played it forward to Bekerskyi, whose shot hit the woodwork. Zorya also had a late chance before the break but Yaroshenko missed the target from a promising position.
After halftime the pattern of the game remained unchanged. Dynamo continued to methodically search for openings while Zorya focused on defensive organization and counterattacks. This approach almost paid off in the 57th minute when, after winning the ball in midfield, visitors delivered it into the penalty area but Denys Stryuk failed to reach it.
Dynamo effectively pinned their opponents back but Zorya’s well-organized defense, just like in the first-round match, limited clear chances. Bekerskyi had a dangerous effort from the edge of the box aimed at the near post but Zorya goalkeeper Chudasa was ready and tipped it out for a corner.
The breakthrough finally came in the 79th minute. Pashko delivered a cross from the right into the penalty area where Zhdanov - who had just come on - won the aerial duel and headed the ball down to Lobko who finished from close range with one touch.
With this goal Lobko extended his scoring streak to eight matches. He became the team’s top scorer with nine goals, having scored in each of Dynamo’s eight matches after the winter break.
Despite taking the lead Dynamo continued to attack until the final whistle and deservedly secured a 1:0 victory.
