FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Olexandr Shovkovskyi has told FootballHub about the last game of the year – against FC Obolon Kyiv.
- It was a tough and even rough game. How did that influence your players?
- Lately our games against Obolon have been quite tough. As I understand, they have special attitude to those. We knew things wouldn’t be easy for us. We made a lot of mistakes in the first half although we discussed how we should play.
We could score after corner and with a free kick. We needed to calm things down. I understand both my team and Obolon. No one wants to lose.
- Obolon defended with the whole squad and hoped for counterattacks. How difficult was that for your players?
- We knew how Obolon would play. They did the same in our previous games, used long balls. That’s how they scored against Rukh – from distance and after long ball. We knew that, but our center backs were still too cautious. Probably that’s about the responsibility and willingness to win. I think we need to be calmer.
- Are you satisfied with the first part of the season?
- We started well, then there were a number of failures and then we finished it off with four victories. We’re satisfied with the ending, but not with the whole picture.
