On December 1, at the age of 79, after a long illness the legendary Dynamo Kyiv player Volodymyr Muntyan passed away. During his time with "white-and-blues" Volodymyr Fedorovych became a seven-time USSR champion, won the national Cup twice and also claimed the Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in 1975.
President of FC Dynamo Kyiv Ihor Surkis expressed his condolences:
With deep sorrow and a heavy heart I received the news of the passing of our club’s legend Volodymyr Muntyan. Volodymyr Fedorovych dedicated his entire life to football and to our Dynamo leaving an unforgettable mark in the hearts of fans, colleagues and young footballers.
His skills on the field, loyalty to the team and boundless love for the game inspired more than one generation. Volodymyr Fedorovych not only achieved victories but also nurtured new champions, passing on his experience, wisdom and drive to succeed. He always remained an example of integrity, humanity and true dedication to the club.
Today we say goodbye to a great personality whose name has become synonymous with Dynamo’s success and greatness. I extend my sincere condolences to his family, relatives, friends and all who knew and loved Volodymyr Fedorovych. The bright memory of him will forever remain in our hearts and his contribution to the club’s history and Ukrainian football will never be forgotten.
