The head coach of FC Dynamo Kyiv answered journalists’ questions following the Ukrainian Cup match against FC Inhulets Petrove.
– Today a nominally second-string lineup played. Which performance pleased you more – today’s team or the one from previous matches?
– We don’t have a main or reserve lineup. We have players we rely on. We rotated the squad. The most important thing is that we won today and it doesn’t matter which lineup achieved that victory.
– Are you satisfied with your team’s performance considering you were facing a First League side?
– Of course, there are aspects we need to improve. The opponent defended well and built a compact defensive structure. At the same time we had several good chances in the first half but failed to convert them because it’s difficult on such a pitch to break down a team that plays with a very low block.
At halftime we made some adjustments, started to press and recover the ball more actively which led to the first goal. The second goal reflected what we asked from the players – to deliver the ball into the penalty area and attack the finishing zones. We brought the game to a logical conclusion. Credit must also go to Inhulets who reorganized well and, after losing possession, quickly dropped back to form a tight defensive shape.
– In five days Dynamo will face an important match against Polissya. What are your expectations?
– It will be an interesting game. I think everyone is looking forward to this match. We will prepare well for it.
