FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after the home match against SC Dnipro-1 (0:1):
- Almost at every press conference we hear that foreign players don’t come to Dynamo because of war. Meanwhile Shakhtar sign Brazilians, Polissia sign players from the French league. Is this about the club or maybe there’re other reasons?
- I don’t make decisions, I coach. Some can sign experienced players, while we use those we have at the moment. It’s unbelievable to lose such games. We had a lot of chances, but we made mistakes even 10-year-olds don’t make.
Dnipro-1 have really good attack, good defense, professional players. We dominated, created opportunities, but so far our players can’t cope with the pressure. They aren’t aggressive enough to beat Dnipro-1.
- Why did the team fail to fulfill your plan? Whose fault is that?
- The problem is that we’ve lost 11 leading players, who were key elements of the team. We have 5-6 really unexperienced youngsters.
It’s my fault. I didn’t manage to build a new team able to oppose others within a short period of time. We were unlucky to lose Yarmolenko, who helped a lot. We lost Shaparenko. Karavayev was suspended.
We’re forming a new team. I can’t reproach players in terms of dedication, but today we made a lot of mistakes. Vivcharenko, Syrota, even Bushchan. But anyway it’s my responsibility. It’s not a big deal we conceded. The big deal is that we didn’t manage to score.
- The team unleashed few shots, especially in the first half. Was this your plan?
- I agree. Brazhko was constantly 20-25 meters further away than he was supposed to. Besides, he made a lot of mistakes under pressure. Our major problem was the lack of focus.
We dominate against most of the teams, have decent possession, but that’s not enough. We must finish our attacks properly.
