FC Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu answered journalists’ questions after away win against FC LNZ Cherkasy – 4:2:
- I knew it would be a tough match as I watched LNZ games against Rukh and Dnipro-1. I told our players that first of all we mustn’t let LNZ maintain possession and we mustn’t get dispossessed in the midfield as they’re good at counterattacks.
They have really good players, like Naumets and Boiko, for instance. So I emphasized we need an early opener as things would get difficult if we don’t score it. LNZ have quite a number of players aged around 30.
We scored the early opener and deserved this victory. It would have been better if we increased the lead right after that, but we didn’t, so LNZ got more confident and even managed to equalize. Besides they had decent long balls.
- Don’t you think LNZ have demonstrated that Dynamo defense has flaws? Are you going to enforce this line?
- The thing is that defenders, who’re better than those we have, won’t come here. Foreigners, who joined us before, like Ramirez, Parris, left the team. After a couple of months, foreigners want to leave as war is on.
Thus it’s much more important to us to raise our own players. When things get better in Ukraine we’ll need to think of signing experienced defenders. Then it won’t be an issue.
So far we give chances to Bilovar, Malysh, Diallo, Ramadani. As of today, Vivcharenko, Shaparenko, Shepelev, Tymchyk are missing due to injuries. I hope they’ll be back in a couple of weeks. I’m bothered by Popov who player 2-3 games after which gets injured. His body doesn’t let him continue.
- Are you satisfied with young Brazhko, who’s replaced Serhiy Sydorchuk?
- I’ve already answered this question. Sydorchuk has done a lot for Dynamo. I think he’ll come back after his contract expires. He’s the symbol of Dynamo. He was always doing the best he could for the team.
