Yaroslav Buravtsov: «We outplayed our opponents in the first half and gave them no chance»

Dynamo U19 forward Yaroslav Buravtsov scored twice against Rivne side Veres. After the match, he shared his impressions of the game and the 2:1 away victory:

– You scored twice in the first half after through balls from deep. Tell us how these scoring opportunities came about and whether you expected such passes from your teammates.

– Yes, of course, I expected them and asked my teammates to play those passes, and I received them. They did a great job – in the first half, we outplayed our opponents and gave them no chance. As for me, it was improvisation. I simply found myself in the right place and had a sense of where the ball would go.

– Both goals came before the break, giving the team a comfortable lead. What did the coaching staff say in the dressing room, and what was your mindset going into the second half?

– The coach only told us not to allow the opponents to come back, as had already happened in a previous match involving Dynamo U21. There were no special adjustments – the main thing was not to relax and to approach the second half with the same level of seriousness.

– After the break Veres reduced the deficit with a free kick and kept the outcome in doubt until the final minutes. How difficult was it to hold on to the lead, and what helped the team see out the victory?

– Yes, the outcome was still in doubt. I don't know how difficult it was, because I had already been substituted by then and left the pitch with the score at 2:0. So I can only assess what I saw from the sidelines. The lads did a great job and handled the situation well. Towards the end of the match, the opponents received a red card and were reduced to ten men, while our team controlled possession.

– The match was postponed or interrupted twice due to the security situation. How do such circumstances affect players’ concentration and physical condition, and how difficult is it to get back into the game after each break?

– The first air raid alert did not particularly affect us. During the second one, we simply went to the dressing room with the lads and talked. We didn't do anything special. Of course, after such a long break, it was difficult to get back into the game. The interruption disrupts your rhythm a little, and then you have to regain the right mindset and concentration.

– You now have seven goals in ten matches. Are you satisfied with your scoring record at this stage of the season, and what goals have you set for yourself for the remainder of the championship?

– More or less satisfied. Of course, I could do better, but overall, everything is fine. As for my goals, I would certainly like to become the championship’s top scorer. I keep an eye on how the other leading scorers are performing.
