Dynamo Kyiv has always been known for its team-oriented play, yet the club has produced some of the most prolific scorers in both Soviet and Ukrainian championships.
The first Dynamo player to top the Soviet scoring charts was striker Makar Honcharenko who scored 20 goals in 1938, making him the first player in USSR league history to reach that mark. Later legends included Andriy Zazroyev who became the top scorer in 1952 with just 11 goals in a 13-match season, highlighting his efficiency. Then came the era of Oleh Blokhin who dominated Soviet football by becoming the league’s top scorer five times, including four consecutive seasons – a record in the USSR. The last Dynamo player to win the Soviet scoring title was Oleh Protasov in 1990, netting 12 goals in 16 matches and helping Dynamo secure its record 13th championship.
In independent Ukraine Dynamo continued producing top scorers. Serhiy Rebrov became the first Dynamo player to win the Ukrainian Premier League scoring title in 1997/1998 with 22 goals, setting a new benchmark. Andriy Shevchenko followed with 18 goals in his farewell season before moving to Milan also becoming the Champions League top scorer that year. Maksym Shatskikh is the first player to win the UPL scoring title twice, setting a record with 124 career league goals, including 22 in the 2002/2003 season.
Other notable achievements include Artem Milevskyi, who claimed the top scorer title in 2009/2010 with 17 goals and 8 assists, and Andriy Yarmolenko who scored a personal-best 15 league goals in his last full Dynamo season, topping the league and leading in combined goal + assist points. These players reflect Dynamo’s long-standing tradition of blending teamwork with individual scoring excellence.
