Volodymyr Yerokhin

Volodymyr Yerokhin was a right-back for Dynamo Kyiv in the 1950s and early 1960s, a position that rarely brought fame or admiration compared to forwards or goalkeepers. As a defender, his role was more about hard work, discipline, and supporting the team rather than standing out individually. Despite this, he left a strong impression thanks to his physical presence, athletic build, and consistent performances on the field.

Yerokhin was known for his bravery, reliability, and incredible work rate, which earned him the nickname “Soldier” among fans. His style of play reflected determination and composure, and he became a foundational figure for future generations of Dynamo Kyiv right-backs. Players who came after him developed the role further and gained more recognition, but Yerokhin was one of the pioneers who set the standard.

Unfortunately, he was not very lucky when it came to major titles and recognition. In Dynamo Kyiv’s championship-winning 1961 season, he played only two matches due to his age, which was not enough to receive a gold medal. He was also part of the USSR squad for the 1958 World Cup but did not play in any matches. Despite this, Volodymyr Yerokhin remains an important and respected figure in the club’s history, remembered for his dedication and contribution to the team.
