Volodymyr Troshkin, born September 28, 1947, in Yenakiieve, Donetsk region, began his career in local factory teams before joining Shakhtar Yenakiieve and later playing for SKA Kyiv. He debuted for Dynamo Kyiv’s first team in 1969 in a Champions Cup match against Fiorentina, tasked with marking the Brazilian Amarildo. Initially a midfielder, Troshkin was later moved to right-back, where his defensive skills, stamina, speed, and tactical intelligence shone. Legendary coach Valeriy Lobanovskyi praised him for combining defensive reliability with effective attacking runs, making him one of the most valuable players on the team.

Troshkin was part of Dynamo Kyiv’s golden era, winning four Soviet championships (1971, 1974, 1975, 1977), the Soviet Cup (1974), the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup (1975). He played 278 league matches, scoring 21 goals, and represented the USSR national team 31 times, earning a European Championship silver medal in 1972 and an Olympic bronze in 1976. After retiring from professional football in 1978, Troshkin moved into coaching and football administration. He worked with SKA Kyiv, later in Rivne, and joined the Football Federation of Ukraine, helping train youth teams and scouting promising talents nationwide. He also coached national youth squads and won the USSR Spartakiad with Viktor Kolotov in 1986, earning the title of Honored Coach. Troshkin’s post-playing career emphasized talent development, mentoring players like Serhiy Kovalevets, and contributing to the growth of Ukrainian football at multiple levels.
