“Ukrainian derby” started with the national anthem, which sounds before every game this season. It has become a good tradition.

There was complete unity at the stadium. Ultras of both sides even didn’t use offensive chants and shouted “Kyiv-Donetsk! Donetsk-Kyiv!” to each other.

Serhiy Rebrov surprised journalists and supporters once again as Miguel took the place of Serhiy Rybalka among first eleven for the first time this season.

In the first half both teams played orderly and created few scoring chances.

After the break Dynamo controlled the ball and Shakhtar focused on counterattacks.

Roughness of visitors resulted in second booking for Viacheslav Shevchuk 63 minutes into the match.

Kyivans used their numerical advantage rather quickly. 71 minutes into the game it seemed that the ball would cross the touch line after corner, but Jeremain Lens reached it. He passed to Andriy Yarmolenko, who performed a cross into the box. Kanibolotskyi didn’t clear the ball and Domagoj Vida headed it in!

After that Shakhtar started playing more aggressively. Still their attacks didn’t result in anything because of fussiness.

Dynamo could double the score, but goalkeeper saved Donetsk from Yarmolenko’s goal in one-on-one situation. Anyway the White-Blues have defeated FC Shakhtar Donetsk for the first time in three years within the UPL!

Dynamo: one test after another

FC Dynamo Kyiv are getting ready for the match against bitter rival in good mood and conditions. The White-Blues winning run includes four games already.

This season Kyivans won nine fixtures in the Ukrainian Premier League and Europa League and played in a draw twice. Goal difference is 25:7.

Shakhtar are the only team that defeated Dynamo under the charge of Serhiy Rebrov.

The White-Blues started getting ready for the forthcoming game only two days before it. On October 2 they played a very important Europa League fixture. Still players state that they like such schedule.

From match to match Dynamo performers improve mutual understanding. Serhiy Rebrov’s men prepare for each game in a special way.

At the moment Dynamo most serious problem is injury of left back Yevhen Makarenko. Anyway as the White-Blues faced Steaua young Mykyta Burda took his place and coped with his duties. Yevhen Khacheridi, who has already recovered, can also be on players’ list.

The best news before the match against Shakhtar is that Andriy Yarmolenko has prolonged his contract with our club.

Today Yarmolenko is in great conditions. He netted four fabulous goals in three last games and got three assists to his name.

Shakhtar: to forget last minutes of the game against Porto

Shakhtar approach the match against Dynamo in bad humor. This week they were close to win against FC Porto within the Champions League, but let victory slip away several minutes before the time.

Mircea Lucescu’s men had two days more than Dynamo to get ready for “Ukrainian clasico”.

Shakhtar won six starting Ukrainian Premier League games even though this season they have to play their home matches in Lviv and in Kyiv. Still in the previous matchday they lost against FC Zoria Luhansk. At the moment they are second in standings lacking one point behind FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

This season goalkeeper Andriy Piatov isn’t Shakhtar first team regular, but he performs in the national cup and euro cups.

Speaking about defenders, only skipper Darijo Srna featured in all UPL matches this season.

Halfback Taison has made seven appearances in the domestic league and Taras Stepanenko – six.

Forward Olexandr Hladkyi and Luiz Adriano took the field in every game. The former has five goals to his name and the latter – one.

Face-to-face matches history in UPL

Dynamo and Shakhtar faced each other 45 times in the Ukrainian Premier League. Kyivans won 18 games and lost 15. 12 more matches ended in a draw.
