Europa League. Matchday 4. Thun – Dynamo – 0:2

After failure in the UPL against FC Zorya Luhansk the White-Blues head coach Oleh Blokhin made two substitutions in the starting lineup. Benoit Tremoulinas and Andriy Yarmolenko featured among first eleven instead of Yevhen Makarenko and Jeremain Lens.

Game aspects

Both sides started creating scoring chances right after the starting whistle. One minute into the game Schneuwly had an attempt on goal, but Olexandr Shovkovskyi made a save. Six Minutes later Berat Sadik hit the woodwork.

It took Kyivans some time to get adjusted to artificial turf. Eighteen minutes into the match the White-Blues forward Dieumerci Mbokani got two yellow cards for arguing with referee and was sent off.

Swiss side tried to use numerical advantage, but despite their activity Dynamo opened the score as Andriy Yarmolenko whipped a low cross into the box and, though there was little obvious threat, Lukas Schenkel contrived to spear it past his own goalkeeper!

Second half didn’t abound with goal-scoring opportunities. Olexandr Shovkovskyi, Yevhen Khacheridi and Aleksandar Dragovic coped with shots form distance and crosses easily.

68 minutes into the match Wittwer conceded free kick for a foul on Yarmolenko. Andriy curled it beyond Guillaume Faivre and made the score 2:0 for Dynamo!

After this win Kyivans are second in group G with 7 points.

Key episode

Yarmolenko’s fabulous shot 69 minutes into the game was decisive.

Top person

The White-Blues haven’t conceded against Thun due to Olexandr Shovkovskyi in a great measure. Both Dynamo goals were netted with direct involvement of Andriy Yarmolenko.
