Before today's match between Dynamo and Kolos in the framework of the 3rd round of the Ukrainian Premier League, Kyiv fans will be reminded of a recent anniversary. Andriy Yarmolenko's previous appearance in front of the capital's public marked a significant milestone in the footballer's biography – the Kyiv side's match against Kudrivka, which concluded the 2025/2026 championship, was the 700th of the White and Blues winger's career.
Then came the vacation, training camp and European matches. Finally – the long-awaited home premiere of the new season: an undeniable reason to celebrate Andriy Yarmolenko's beautiful round number and recall his bright sporting journey.
Yarmolenko played his first professional-level match in elite competitions on August 11, 2006, for his native Chernihiv side Desna. In Ternopil, he came on as a substitute in the 71st minute of the first-round Ukrainian Cup match against local side Nyva.
Over the next two years, Yarmolenko played for Desna and Dynamo-2 in the First League, however, these appearances are not included in the statistics of appearances at the highest level.
Andriy made his Dynamo debut on May 11, 2008, coming onto the pitch 8 minutes before the final whistle of the last match of the season, in which the Kyiv club hosted Vorskla. The 18-year-old newcomer became the hero of that game, scoring the winning goal. In August 2017, Yarmolenko left Dynamo already as an undisputed leader and captain of the team.
And in the summer of 2023, he returned to his native club. The final match of the 2025/26 season against Kudrivka was Andriy's 428th in a Dynamo shirt. In these matches, he scored 169 goals.
As part of Dynamo, Yarmolenko became the country's champion 4 times, won the national cup three times and the Ukrainian Super Cup three times.
Yarmolenko's first foreign team was Borussia Dortmund, for which he played in the 2017/18 season. As part of the “Bumblebees,” Andriy played 26 matches, scoring 6 goals.
His next destination was London. For four years, from 2018 to 2022, Yarmolenko delighted West Ham fans with his play, making a total of 86 appearances in the Hammers' shirt and scoring 13 goals. West Ham is Andriy's second team after Dynamo in terms of number of appearances.
In the 2022/23 season, before returning to Dynamo, the legendary Ukrainian winger played in the UAE, representing Al Ain. The result of these appearances was 33 matches and 12 goals in all competitions.
For the Ukraine national team, Yarmolenko has played 126 matches, in which he scored 47 goals.
At the beginning of the current season, the Dynamo leader crossed into the eighth hundred of matches at the highest level. He currently has 704 appearances.
