FC Dynamo Kyiv winger Andriy Yarmolenko answered club media questions during the medical examination at Dobrobut clinic.
- Andriy, you’ve been through this kind of examinations a lot. How do you feel being back here?
- I know this clinic, it’s just a different name. Basically there’s nothing new. Every professional player knows it’s important to be examined to make sure you’re ready for a training camp.
- Do you know any doctors here? How do you generally assess the qualifications of local specialists?
- Of course I know doctors and it’s nice to see them again. As for their qualifications, everything’s great as usually. In times of war, we especially appreciate the selfless work of doctors. Without our soldiers, doctors, rescuers, our victory is impossible. Therefore, a huge thank you to everyone who works for victory, for their work. All athletes appreciate it very much. We should all stick together and support each other in this difficult time.
- How are you currently feeling? When will you come back to the field?
- For now, I need to focus on getting back to work with the team as only recently I started jogging. The recovery process is going well. Every day you need to increase the exercise load. Hopefully the knee won’t react painfully and I can progress. With such injuries, it is difficult to name a specific date of return to the field. But, hopefully, if everything continues to go according to plan, I will be ready for the second part of the training camp.
- Do you already work with the ball?
- Not yet. I only run in a straight line. If the knee does not respond to this work, then you can add runs with a change of direction. And only after that you can start working with the ball.
- After you got injured, Dynamo results worsened – the team couldn’t win for a certain period of time. How did you feel watching the games, being unable to step on the field and help the team?
- Of course I wasn’t happy. But that happens in football. The most important thing for us is to draw conclusions and move on. Every player who wears Dynamo jersey should remember that this is the best team in our country and play with only one goal – to win.
I see great potential in our players. There’re a lot of youngsters on the team. Of course it takes time as young players lack stability. We’ve all been through this. I guess you remember that when I was 19-20 things were the same. You need to endure and even lose some games to get more experienced. We’ll do our best to win the league this season.
- Recently the team returned to winning track again. What do you think of Dynamo prospects this season?
- Of course I believe Olexandr Shovkovskyi will lead the team to the title and I’ll be doing the best I can for that. It’s important to be united as a sole team, one family, to do what coaches tell us to. Final games of the last year proved the team is capable of winning. We need to do a good job at the training camp to be ready for the second part of the season.
