Andrii Yarmolenko: “We’re in for a very difficult period”

FC Dynamo Kyiv winger Andrii Yarmolenko has commented upon the goalless draw against FC Rukh Lviv:

- I think fans enjoyed the game. Both sides created a lot of opportunities. Of course it we used our chances in the first half things would have been easier, but this is football. Sometimes you score out of the blue, sometimes you don’t use perfect opportunities.

- Do you agree Dynamo didn’t struggle enough it terms of attacking actions?

- I don’t think we were losing the struggle, we just didn’t use out chances, especially before the break. In the second half we rushed forward and Rukh had some good opportunities.

- It seemed Rukh played quite aggressively. Wasn’t that too rough?

- I think it was all fine. Just a men’s game. Referee let the teams play. I guess it’s better than whistling after every fall. There was nothing rough today. Yes, we’ve lost points, but that had to happen someday. It’s hardly possible to go through the whole season without losing points.

- Was this a kind of rehearsal before the game against Lazio?

- It wasn’t. We’ll start getting ready for euro cups after this match. It’s not like some games are more important to us than others. We need to do our best every time.

- What do you think of the new Europa League format and your opponents?

- Something new is always interesting. We’ll see. We’re in for a very intense schedule as we’re going to play every three or four days. It’s important to recondition properly. Logistics complicates things for us, but we’ll get ready to represent our country decently in the Europa League.

- You used to have this kind of schedule when playing in England. So, this must be ordinary for you?

- If the English Premier League players traveled by bus or train as Dynamo, Shakhtar, Kryvbas do, I don’t think they would have been able to play every 48 or 72 hours. No one faced anything like this in Europe. It’s one thing when you can recondition, come to your training ground for procedures, and it’s another thing when you have a 20-hour bus trip. It’s good that we have a lot of players. I think everyone will play and everyone will have a chance. We’re in for a very difficult period. We’ll be acting as a team and supporting each other.
