- You used to work for FC Arsenal Kyiv. What can you say about that experience?
- That was the first time when I worked as gaffer and not as assistant coach. At first I took charge of Arsenal youth team formed of players born in 1995 and worked for three years with those guys. Then I was offered to work with reserve team, but Arsenal bankrupted. Later Arsenal turned into Arsenal-Kyiv and won Kyiv league.
- Should young coach work with youth teams before taking charge of older players?
- There are specialists, who consider themselves to be only youth coaches. When I got the job offer I wasn’t sure I should work with youngsters. When I took the offer the job turned out to be interesting for me.
- Which coach is your example to follow?
- I learned something from every coach. Of course Valeriy Lobanovskyi comes first. He was my first role model. Mykhailo Fomenko also did a lot for me.
- What’s memorable about Valeriy Lobanovskyi for you?
- Unfortunately I had little time to work with him before he went to UAE. What was really impressive is that players never had doubts about his words.
- Now you work with your former teammate Vitaliy Kosovskyi. Were you friends when players? Did you keep in touch after that?
- We did. At first we featured for Dynamo and then – for veterans’ teams. Thus we didn’t need much time to find common ground when we started working together.
- Main squad coaching staff including Serhiy Rebrov follows youth teams. Does that motivate your players?
- That motivates both players and coaches. I often meet Serhiy Rebrov at our home matches.
