After conceding to the last season’s league bronze medalist Metalist on the home ground, Dynamo has barely managed to hold its position.
It was not Kyiv’s best display we saw on Saturday: few exact crossings, lack of beautiful and efficient combinations. Little was achieved by the attacking midfielders and the strikers could rarely touch the ball. The White-Blues clearly went without any inventive and unusual thinking. The Metalist defense could easily block all the volleys and keeper Horyayinov seemed to make saves without a hitch.
In the second half József Szabó made two changes to the side by putting Rotan and Bangoura but Dynamo kept making multiple mistakes and managed two create just two chances. First, Diogo Rincón’s shot hit the post, then Corrêa’s volley was well parried by Horyayinov.
Metalist took time attacking and it came on 80 minutes, when Rykun’s crossing found Devic in the box line who made no mistake: 0-1. With 10+4 minutes left to play, the hosts failed to carry out a single attack an the score remained so until the final whistle.
