BATE – Dynamo – 1:4. Match report

Dynamo Kyiv will host FC Sheriff in Europa League Matchday 6 with Group E progression already assured after their crucial 1-4 victory over Belarusian rivals FC BATE on Thursday night.

Despite the freezing cold weather, it was really hot on the pitch. The action started quickly with both sides struggling to get the upper hand in the game. But this was Dynamo’s day and it seemed like nothing could prevent them from grabbing the victory.

Ognjen Vukojević gave Oleh Luzhnyy's side the lead after 16 minutes, rolling Goran Popov's deflected free-kick right into the left corner, while Andriy Yarmolenko added a second two minutes before the break. Oleh Husyev extended the hosts' lead to three goals with a penalty kick soon after the interval and Artem Milevskyy rounded off Dynamo's impressive performance with a fourth goal midway through the second half, sending in Yarmolenko's cross. The hosts pulled one goal back through Pavel Nekhaychik with 84 minutes on the clock, but it proved only a scant consolation.

Dynamo have gathered nine points from their 5 group stage games and now sit top of the table. Their last game before the festive break - Europa League match against Sheriff (Tiraspol, Moldova) – will be played at the Lobanovskyy Dynamo stadium on Wednesday, December 15.
