Benjamin Verbic: “It was hard to feel the game rhythm after six months of absence”

- It was the toughest period in my career, but now I’m over it. I’ve been training for quite a while already, but coach didn’t want to risk. Today I managed to play for 45 minutes and I’m really glad. Of course I haven’t reconditioned yet, but I hope I’ll be fine soon.

- When shall we see Benjamin Verbic, who was the leader of the team?

- I try to do my best at every session. At first things were tough, but now I don’t feel any discomfort. We’re to play a couple more friendlies and then the league starts.

- The game against Etoile was very emotional. There even were some conflicts on the field. Is that okay for friendlies?

- Opponents incited us all the time. There was an episode, when they pushed Sydorchuk and we got furious. We’re a team and we care about each other.

- Are you ready to compete for the role of forward if the team needs that?

- Sure, I’ll be a forward if necessary. That’s not my favourite position, but I’m ready.

- What do you expect of friendlies against such teams as Athletic and Villarreal?

- It’s always great to play against such teams. We’ve had a good game against Nice. Such matches help us make headway.

- What was your task in the game against Etoile?

- It was the first game after the break for internationals and for me. The turf was of poor quality, so it was hard to maintain possession, but still we’ve scored twice. I needed to feel the game rhythm after six months of absence.
