Bohdan Redushko: “This period Is great because we’ve won every match”

Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Bohdan Redushko shared his impressions after the team’s 5:0 away victory over Oleksandriya, a match in which he scored his debut goal for the first team.

— Congratulations on your first goal for the senior team! How do you feel?

— I’m keeping calm because I already gave all my emotions on the pitch but inside I’m incredibly happy. Scoring my first goal for such a club is amazing - emotions are at their highest.

— How did teammates and coaching staff congratulate you?

— Guys and coaches congratulated me on the debut goal - nothing extraordinary but very pleasant.

— Did you feel in previous matches that a goal might come? Were you preparing for it?

— I don’t think about goals too much because if I did I’d play only for scoring. I also need to make assists. I just stayed focused and the goal came naturally which is great.

— Today the team continued attacking even after early goals and a comfortable halftime lead. Was the instruction to keep pressing?

— Of course, we can’t score two goals and then say “That’s it, let’s drop back.” We want to keep scoring, especially with players like Andriy Yarmolenko, Nazar Voloshyn and myself in the attack. And with Matvii Ponomarenko leading the scorers chart everyone wants to score in every game.

— About Matvii Ponomarenko - he was clearly looking for this goal to continue his streak…

— He’s a striker, that’s his job - to score goals. He looked for it and eventually found it in the second half.

— How do you evaluate this period for yourself and the team?

— From a team perspective this period has been excellent because we’ve won every match. Individually there’s always room to improve.

— Are these results the outcome of training camps and changes in the coaching staff?

— Yes, it’s visible - we aren’t losing. The training process in Kyiv, the new coaching staff and increased competition are all paying off.

— You renewed your contract with Dynamo over the winter. Did this motivate you further?

— Absolutely. It gave me more stimulus to train harder, work more and deliver results.

— Considering the team’s current form do you wish the international break wouldn’t happen?

— Of course we’d like to keep playing but it’s also good to reset. Some players will rest, some will join national teams. The break is necessary.

— You have upcoming matches with the Ukraine youth national team. What are your goals?

— We have two games and must win both. We’re currently in third place. To qualify for the Euro we have to win every match.
