Bohdan MYKHAILYCHENKO: “Presence of Serhiy Rebrov at our matches is very inspiring!”

Bohdan has also managed to score in the UEFA Youth League. Now it’s time to get to know this talented player better.

- I realized I would become football player when I was six. I loved that since child hood. I like AS Roma and Francesco Totti in particular. My elder brother Taras trained in Boryspil under the charge of Olexandr Kurylko. My father often took me to brother’s training session and eventually coach offered me to join them. I was training with boys, who were 3-4 years older. I didn’t play a lot, but that period was beneficial for me. Later we joined the team called Kniazha.

Three years later I was invited to Dynamo. After the youth league first round I was spotted by coach Pavlo Kikot. I was 13 or 14 at that moment.

- Last season you scored 8 goals in 20 matches for Dynamo U-21. Is that enough for winger?

- I always want to score in every match. If I don’t score I should perform assists. I work on that all the time. This season I want to score eight goals too though I have netted only two so far.

- On April 8 you made your debut for Dynamo main squad in the national cup match against FC Zoria Luhansk. What did you feel that night?

- It was unexpected to find out I would be in the starting lineup. Of course I was very nervous, but then teammates cheered me up and supported. I played as winger.

- When did you get to know you would join the main squad?

- A week before the game reserve team trained together with the main squad. Serhiy Rebrov told me to stay with the first team. Thus I worked with them for a week. It was quite difficult, but everyone treated me really well. Raul asked me whether I was ready to play. On the match day Rebrov told me I would be among first eleven. He said I should play the way I do that featuring for reserve team.

Presence of Serhiy Rebrov at our matches is very inspiring! He pays attention to every player and thanks us when we come to the locker room after the final whistle. He’s interested in youngsters.

- What are your impressions of the UEFA Youth League?

- Frankly speaking I didn’t expect the competition to be so tough. There are really good players and teams here.
